That sounds incredibly frustrating. What a lot to go through just to be able to do the best by one's child. Well done for being so pragmatic about it all. I'm not sure I'd be so patient.

How frustrating to say the least. But you know and understand the strengths and weaknesses of your sons maths, and thats all that matters really. The Advisors opinion doesn't count, does it? He/She is just a niggling annoyance. Your son has chosen school himself and you have provided him with great support at home until now. That other persons opinion is neither here nor there in you or your sons choices (other than being incredibly annoying because you know their conclusions are wrong!). I could imagine myself pulling my hair out with steam emerging from my ears in your situation though!

Hope he enjoys school. x

That was a good rant. Very healthy. I feel for you. Sometimes it's just like life keeps piling it up and piling it up and in the middle of it we are and just trying to live and love as best we can. Am sending you lots and lots of love and the wish that you can find some moments of respite in amongst the bits that are rough. It is a thankless task at the best of times..especially when we are supporting our kids to do stuff that maybe we wouldn't have thought we could agree to in the beginnning. As for the LEA oik, even though violence is not 'okay' it is also tempting to want to grind his face into a tray of lego pieces. Actually I had a dream once where I was doing this to someone who was getting right on me babsers in real life...it was a very very satisfying dream and I felt very peaceful when I woke;)

(((Nikki))) I can understand your still being angry- I would be. Not suitable education, Pah! Is this officially recorded or was he just trying to wind you up? If so i would be tempted to try and get it retracted by writing a calm letter. Evidence of suitable education can take many forms and you could argue that you have already provided this. (But I would get some advice from someone who knows more about dealing with LEA's, like Gill).
And don't worry about the other 2- they're only little and they've got each other and the rest of the family. It's taken me ages to realise we don't really need groups and they can be (often) more hassle than they are worth. Don't you have a Waldorf P&T group there? Sorry I have never made it to see you yet- it never happened that I was just passing your way!
I'm sure you'll feel better when not so tired.
And you're not a crap blogger ;-)

Mr Nasty HE man seem to have missed the point that H.E children do not have to be at school based standards or levels so he cannot use R's maths difficulties as a reason to say a suitable education is not taking place anyway. I am fuming on your behalf. Grrhh.

Lana says "R why on earth do you want to go to school for." You've all been in our thoughts quite a lot actually - Lana deff wants to come and see R again, she was and is really impressed with him !
